Warp Vendor Attack Exposed AI Agent Logs and Telemetry; Roughly 1% of Users May Be Affected, BleepingComputer Reports

Summary
Warp, an agentic development environment, said a vendor in its infrastructure was exploited, exposing agent logs and telemetry. Its chief executive estimated roughly 1% of users may be affected, BleepingComputer reported.
Warp, the company behind an agentic development environment used by developers to direct AI agents that write and test code, disclosed a breach in which agent decision logs and telemetry data belonging to users were exposed, BleepingComputer reported. BleepingComputer said the exposure came through an attack on a third-party vendor in Warp's infrastructure. Warp's founder and chief executive, Zach Lloyd, estimated that "roughly 1% of Warp users may have been impacted," according to the report, while external experts help with an investigation that is still ongoing.
What Warp has said
BleepingComputer cited a statement by Lloyd: "On Friday, we became aware of what we believe to be an active and narrow-banded exploitation of a vendor in Warp's infrastructure." He added: "We detected the operation within hours and were able to remediate and mitigate the impact."
Warp is a developer tool that started as a terminal and grew into an environment that bundles a terminal, a code editor, task orchestration and agent review tools, BleepingComputer reported. It said the project's website lists at least 800,000 users.
What is known and not known about the data
Agent traces and telemetry were identified as potentially affected data, BleepingComputer reported. The company did not clarify whether the exposed information included source code, prompts, credentials or other sensitive details, according to the report.
BleepingComputer reported that analysis of the incident suggests the attack was powered by "an agent swarm" that relied on "a very sophisticated penetration and escalation technique." The report does not say who performed that analysis or who carried out the attack.
Response and investigation
Lloyd said Warp has contacted the third-party vendor about the vulnerability, but, according to BleepingComputer, no details have been shared. The platform has notified users identified as impacted. The cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike has been engaged to assist with the investigation, and Warp has informed law enforcement authorities, according to the report. The report advises Warp users to remain vigilant, monitor account activity, and treat unsolicited communications with increased caution.
Follows an OpenCode breach last week
BleepingComputer noted that the Warp incident follows one at the AI coding platform OpenCode, which notified users the previous week that a security breach exposed stored API keys used with external providers. According to BleepingComputer, that incident affected about 1.4% of OpenCode users and led to unauthorized charges of up to $1,700 for some.
